Review of South University Online

South University, dating to 1899, is a private, for- profit institute of higher learning with campuses all over the southern United States and in Novi, Michigan; the largest is in Savannah, Georgia. It offers degrees on all levels, from associate to doctor’s, and operates six different schools, including a school of fine artsand a nursing school.Despite having many campuses spread out over a wide geographical area, there are many courses offered by South University online; and this South University review will be concerned with them. The courses are designed to be easy to use and can be accessed 24/ 7/, and each assignment is clearly defined from week to week.

Following is a description of some courses, listed according to their degree program. It must be realized that not all of the courses in any given program can be taken online; some of the programs listed are taken partially online. Also, almost all these programs— regardless of their focus— also require the student to take courses in mathematics and computers.- Associate in Science in Paralegal Studies— Business Law I and II (development of American legal procedure, negotiable instruments, personal property); Computers in the Legal Office (use of computers to draft documents, bills, dockets, &c.; using Power Point to prepare slides for a trial)- Associate in Science in Criminal Justice— Juvenile Justice System (present, past, and future; discusses prevention programs); Ethics in Criminal Justice (discusses ethical dilemmas that often face those who work for the criminal justice system); Introduction to Police Organizations.

- Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies— requires most of the same classes as the above

- Master of Science in Information Technology— Information Technology Infrastructure (use of information software, management); Web Technologies; Computer Security and Forensics (investigating cases involving hacking and malicious code; identifying threats to information security)

Online learning is rapidly gaining a foothold in today’s educational world, and many South University graduates have reported positive results from their experiences with its program, which, indeed, are for many of them the number one reason for choosing this institution.
